Heresite Case Histories
Heresite has been successfully solving corrosion problems for over
70 years, below are a few examples of those successes.
- P-413 heat cured modified phenolic - Late in 1999
the United States Navy was having costly corrosion problems with
air conditioning equipment on their new Assault Landing Craft (LACA).
The Navy described operating conditions for these Craft as severe
marine/amphibious environments. They had previously used an epoxy
on the cabinets and coils which only lasted 6 to 8 months before
requiring labor intensive repairs or replacement. After testing the
Heresite Phenolic they had the equipment coated with Heresite P-413
flexible heat cured phenolic. They operated years without replacement.
By using the Heresite P-413 the Navy was able to realize an annual
estimated cost savings of a minimum of $264,000 annually to the fleet,
which operates approximately 72 of these craft.
- CSE-6106 cold set epoxy phenolic -
In June 2000 Lockheed Martin had a carbon steel 50 ft diameter 48
ft high 300,000 gallon demineralized water tank lined with Heresite
CSE-6106 gray epoxy phenolic in their plant in New Orleans LA. The
operating temperature of the water was 160°F. B&H Distributors
in Baton Rouge Louisiana worked with Lockheed Martin to develop the
specification. The applicator was the Python Company also from Baton
Rouge. The coating has performed well in this environment for 8 years
and is expected to give many more years of service.
- VR-514 air dry phenolic and P-413 heat cured phenolic -
Deer Island Waste Water Treatment facility in Boston Harbor is the
2nd largest treatment facility in North America. The state of the art
facility was completed in 1994. Metcalf and Eddy the Engineering firm
worked with Heresite to identify Heresite coatings for the Air handlers,
Duct work, Blowers and Air Conditioning units. Heresite P-413 was specified
on the Blowers, Air Handling Equipment and Air Conditioning coils,
the Heresite VR-514 air dry phenolic was used to coat the miles of
duct work in the plant. This equipment was exposed to Salt Air, Hydrogen
Sulfide and other gases. The Heresite coatings have served the
facility well in their 10 plus years of service in this severe corrosive
environment
