Heresite and Chemical Company founded in 1935 with a capital investment of $8,000 and three employees the company started operation in an abandoned knitting mill which it rented in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Heresite began with an idea, to develop, for marketing and application, the finest corrosion control coatings available.  At the time Heresite recognized that many diverse industries were in need of quality protective coatings to ensure high production and to reduce the high costs of corrosion.

It was founded to manufacturer and apply pure phenolic resin coatings.  It was necessary to develop special etching and metal preparation processes for the application of the coatings to steel and to aluminum in order to obtain proper adhesion.  United States and foreign patents were issued at the time for these processes and on the formulation of pure phenolic coatings, incorporating inert pigments of various types.

Today, after almost 74 years of existence, our policy remains to Develop, Manufacture, Sell and Apply Heresite High Performance Coatings. These include Phenolics, Epoxies, Epoxy Phenolics, Urethanes and Polyesters. Even though our reputation has been primarily for the baking phenolic coatings, the same high degree of quality is available in our other diverse product lines.

APPLICATION:

Our applications include large transportation equipment such as tank cars, tank trucks, storage tanks, process equipment and various types of heat transfer equipment.  Our facility has been engineered for the efficient application of our coatings and to permit the lining of practically all types of equipment which can be transported to us via rail or motor truck.

Mr. Hempel the founder of Heresite pioneered the development and use of the baked phenolic lining for use as metal protection in the American protective coating industry.

• Became the first company in North America to be the licensee for SAEKAPHEN, a German process of applying pure phenolic or epoxy phenolic coatings to the inside surfaces of an assembled shell & tube heat exchanger.

HERESITE is rather unique in the protective coating industry in that we are one of the few small companies who still produce many of our own synthetic resins which we use in formulating and making our own coatings. By controlling the complete manufacturing process, we are able to provide our customers consistent quality, batch to batch, year to year.
